3. Apple iPhone 6s Plus
Do I own an iPhone anymore? No. But the iPhone 6s Plus is the easiest phone to recommend to those that just want something to run well, is easy to use, and has a nice design. The iPhone 6s Plus is no exception when it comes to iconic design (even though it is getting a little tiring). Although, it is slightly too heavy, has a less than 2K display, and has thick bezels. 3D Touch is an interesting feature that stands out from the past iterations of the iPhone. iOS still looks similar as it always has and there is still not a nice way to access files and storage like Androids can (or being jailbroken), but it continues to run well on only a dual-core processor and lower amount of RAM versus Android devices. The camera is a sharp shooter now that it has been brought up to 12mp. The iPhone 6s Plus isn’t perfect, but what it does it does well. It is the better of the two iOS devices in the 6s line even though those who don’t like big phones may not think so. The specs of the Plus shine over the regular 6s and the SE.
2. Huawei Nexus 6P
This is the operating system of Android at its best. There is no carrier bloatware installed, it can be used on any US carrier, and has no extra OEM skin to slow it down. The 6P is a fantastic device that takes amazing pictures as well. I have been extremely happy with it as my daily driver. Like the iPhone, it is not perfect and carries its own flaws as well. The phone will get warm fairly often, the battery while it does last me all day 99% of the time, isn’t the best, and the camera speed is sometimes slow. With quick charging, a great low-light camera, plenty of speed, a fast fingerprint reader, and a unique design, the Nexus 6P is a powerhouse that will be remembered as the Nexus that really was great.
1. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
The S7 Edge is an all-around powerhouse and a beast of a phone. The edge display is currently second to none. It has an amazing camera and great battery life. The luxury of being water resistant and the ability to charge wirelessly are such a nice features that you almost don’t want to have a phone without them. To me, it is almost the perfect phone. In the United States, carrier bloatware really is annoying and unfortunate on such a great piece of hardware. Touchwiz is much easier to function this year and it feels very quick and smooth. If there was phone to look forward to next, it will be the Note 7 and after that the next in the S line, the Galaxy S8 Edge.
