Samsung is usually pretty good with the bezels on the top, bottom, and sides of their flagship phones. They keep getting smaller and smaller while still being able to pack a giant punch inside of them. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to be 90% screen. This is even greater than the average ratio of 80% before. Samsung has also been rumored to get rid of the home button at the bottom, which can lead to a larger screen ratio.
Some rumors say that the resolution will go from a 2K resolution that is found in most flagship phones up to a 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. Sony already had a 4K resolution phone with the Z5 and it wasn’t a huge success, but Samsung will most likely want to increase the pixel count to be used with their Gear VR headsets. This would help reduce the screen door effect. I wouldn’t’ expect 4K to be available all the time on the phone so that you can save some battery, but maybe like Sony’s it increases the resolution for videos, etc.
I have stated before that the Galaxy S8 might be just a curved screen from now on. No longer may there be a regular flat screen which can feel even dated in comparison. But the S8 could still come in two screen sizes. Some have reported that they may be even larger than the norm for the S line.
Dual cameras seem to be a new trend as seen in the LG G5, LG V20, and iPhone 7 Plus. Expect Samsung to come out with a fantastic camera as they seem to be able to somehow top it every year.
This rumor has been going on since Apple introduced Touch ID in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. A Korean report states that it will happen this time. I don’t see a purpose for it because to me it’s just a glorified long press.
A patent has been filed for an AI assistant named Bixby. Samsung recently bought Viv in order to work on their new assistant and it’s probably going to show up in the Galaxy S8 next year.
