Is the Nexus 2016 Using Recycled Design?

A fellow Google+ user has decided to figure out why the new leaked photos of the next Nexus phones had such a large chin/bottom bezel. He realized that it appears to be using the recycled design of the HTC A9 with a fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader from the A9 and HTC logo would cause for such a large bottom bezel. It is quite an interesting theory and could turn out to be accurate. Check out the gif below and here’s his post on Google+. How accurate do you think this theory could be? Is HTC being lazy with design and lowering costs this way?
